2014 was a tumultuous year for Ray Rice, as he committed an act of domestic violence that was captured on video and then had to deal with the subsequent fallout from it. He was suspended from the NFL, and although he was eventually reinstated, he had no team to play for after his release from Baltimore.

After his release, Rice filed a wrongful termination suit against the Ravens. He was seeking back pay in the amount of his base salary for the 2014 season, which was $3.529 million, according to the Baltimore Sun.

The two sides settled in January, before the matter had to appear in front of Shyam Das, the NFL's arbitrator. Rice ultimately received $1.588 million from the Ravens.

Rice filed the grievance back in October, when his contract was originally terminated by Baltimore. The total value of the contract was $35 million, and Rice ended up receiving $26.588 million of the total value since July 2012, when he signed the deal.

After the settlement was decided several weeks ago, the Ravens put out a statement that read: "The Ravens agreed to resolve the grievance with Ray Rice. It's time to turn the page, and we're moving forward. ... We wish Janay and Ray Rice the best."

Rice was reinstated to the NFL in November, and he is free to sign with any team. While no team has yet invited Rice to a workout or scheduled him for a visit, he recently said that he has been working out to stay in shape and that he hopes to get a second chance in the league.
