Adrian Peterson is eligible for immediate reinstatement after a judge overturned his suspension, and now the media's attention has turned to his future. The prevailing thought is that Peterson will never play for Minnesota again, leading many to wonder whether theVikings will release him and where he will end up playing in 2015.

The Vikings may elect to trade Peterson rather than release him, although if everyone knows that he wants out of Minnesota, it is hard to imagine the Vikings getting anywhere close to fair value for him.

According to the Minnesota Pioneer Press, it also may be too early to completely shut the door on Peterson's future with the Vikings, no matter how bleak the situation may seem.

"He is open to returning to the Vikings,'' said Nelson Peterson, Adrian's father via the paper. "He hasn't closed the door on saying, 'I won't play for the Vikings.' He hasn't demanded a trade.''

If Peterson does end up parting ways with the only team he has ever known, there are a few landing spots that immediately jump out as favorites.

The Cardinals and Colts both have running games that were something akin to train wrecks last season, and adding a dynamic back like Peterson would go a long way toward balancing the offenses in Arizona and Indianapolis.

The Cowboys featured a dominant running game last season, but star back DeMarco Murray could leave in free agency, which would create a hole that Peterson could fill nicely, particularly since he has previously expressed interest in playing for Dallas.

It is too early to say for sure what will happen, but for now, there appears to be a short list of teams that are candidates for where Peterson will be playing next year.
