From the day in December when he was instituted as the newest Florida Gators head coach, Jim McElwain has been singularly focused on recruiting. The program was in dire straits, but a tireless canvassing effort from McElwain and his staff saved it, bringing in a respectable top-25 recruiting haul on National Signing Day.

Jim McElwain Has Florida Gators Back on Track

Now the time is coming for McElwain to make his first major personnel decision. The Gators will need to determine who their quarterback for the future is, be it redshirt Will Grier or last year's incumbant, the talented-but-inconsistent sophomore Treon Harris.

"It's too early to tell," McElwain said, per 24-7 Sports. "We've got a lot to choose from, have some guys that have some experience. And really, that's kind of what spring ball is all about, and really the development through summer drills and the things that they're going to do to become leaders."

"[We'll take the opportunity to] really see who kind of grasps exactly what we're going to do," he said, referring to spring workouts.

McElwain was quick to add that he doesn't see the decision as a do-or-die choice, noting that both quarterbacks are competent enough to lead UF to success in 2015.

"I'm happy with the guys there, and so far they've taken everything in," he said. "You know what? They're excited to get going."
