Miami Heat Fans Leave Arena Early in Game 6 of NBA Finals, Miss Home Team's Heroic Comeback To Force Seventh Game

Some Miami Heat fans are kicking themselves right now.

With their team on the verge of elimination in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, several Heat fans apparently did not want to see the San Antonio Spurs celebrate on the Heat's home floor, so they went home early.

The Heat trailed 94-89 with less than 30 seconds remaining, but LeBron James and Ray Allen hit 3-pointers, the latter coming with 5.2 second left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Miami then staved off elimination by defeating the Spurs 103-100 on Thursday night at American Airlines Arena to force a Game 7 in Miami on Thursday night.

USA Today posted several tweets addressing the fans' lost faith in their team during the waning moments of regulation.

It printed a tweet by Holly MacKenzie who also apparently thought her team was doomed in regulation. It said, "fans who leave right now shouldn't be allowed to come back next season. salute this team and their effort. damn."

Another tweet by Escobar Cash read, "I left the arena what you mean the game went to overtime(?)"

Yahoo.com columnist Dan Wetzel also weighed in on the circumstances.

"I'm happy for the 2,000 or so Heat fans who left with 30 seconds left. No traffic!"

And from newspaper reporter and television personality Dan LeBatard:

"So many people have left that I'm honestly embarrassed for this city."

With the Heat staving off elimination on Tuesday, it's a safe bet that those who left Tuesday but have tickets to Thursday's finale will be on hand with renewed faith in their team.
