Tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET on TNT the NBA All-Star game will get underway, and even though a number of fan-voted stars won't be able to play in the showcase, there will still be countless highlight-reel moments. Live stream the game free by clicking this link.
The setting of this year's All-Star game should make up for some of the missing talent, such as Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin and Kobe Bryant. Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade is also not going to play in this year's game, but he's still enjoying the Big Apple nonetheless.
"New York is cold as hell, man. But it's nice, it's cool," Wade said. "I feel like the All-Star had to be in New York one of these years. Since I've been in the league, 12 years now, it hasn't been in New York and it's mind-boggling that it hasn't, but I think it's cool that it's finally here. There's just a different vibe in New York than anywhere else."
Wade's former teammate LeBron James also talked about how special it will be to take the All-Star court at Madison Square Garden.
"It's going to be the best All-Star Game for me, to be able to be in the Garden," James said. "I love my fans back in Cleveland. I loved my fans when I was in Miami. But if I could have 82 regular-season games in the Garden, you know I would, because it's the mecca of basketball. You get a great feeling when you walk in there because there is so much history. It's going to be fun."
It's been more than a decade since Madison Square Garden hosted the All-Star Game; this year the festivities have been shared by MSG and Brooklyn's Barclays Center, but in 1998 the Barclays Center didn't even exist. Bryant's first All-Star Game as a Laker was in 1998, as was Tim Duncan's. It was Michael Jordan's final All-Star Game with the Chicago Bulls.
