We're in day three of Analytics-gate, the war of words exchanged between Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey and TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley over the relevance of advanced statistics in the modern game.

James Harden Drops New Merchandise During All Star Week

Morey is one of the leading proponents of advanced statistics and data collection as a means of quantifying player evaluation, while Barkley is an old-school mind who prioritizes experience and the eye-test.

Now the Rockets' star guard James Harden was weighed in with his own two cents about the debate.

“I didn’t know anything about that,” Harden said Thursday in an interview with USA Today's For The Win blog. “Things like that, I’m not worried about it. That can get me sidetracked on what I need to do in my job. If I worry about those things, I wouldn’t be doing my job. I worry about what I can control and focus on my team and trying to win basketball games.”

Amber Rose Sits Courtside At Rockets Game

It doesn't take a stats junkie to recognize that The Beard is having his best year as a professional player. He's putting up 27 points, six assists, and seven rebounds a game. Harden will be starting for the Western Conference in Sunday night's All Star Game at MSG, thanks to a shoulder injury to original starter Kobe Bryant.

“It’s a great accomplishment and my teammates put me in a position to be successful,” he said. “I just go out there to have fun and enjoy the weekend.”
