Kate Upton, Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue's cover girl, who is rumored to have had past dalliances with Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander and New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, was seen recently with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, a professional dancer on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.
An Us Weekly source dished on Upton and Chmerkovskiy, saying their relationship is very new. They were set up through friends. They just started dating," the source said. Not long ago Upton and Chmerkovskiy were spotted together at a New York City restaurant called Scalinatella, and appeared very cozy. According to an eyewitness, Upton and her 33-year-old new beau were holding hands. "They were very canoodly. It was a very intimate meal."
Upton, of Youtube fame for her sensual "Cat Daddy" dance, has also been linked to rapper Sean "P.Diddy" Combs, although she's denied any links to Combs or the aforementioned Verlander, with whom she has starred in a couple of MLB 2K video game commercials. Upton just turned 21, so she would be facing a fairly steep age gap with Chmerkoviskiy if their relationship is indeed a romantic one.
A source different from Us Weekly's provided a contradicting report, saying the two are not dating and have simply become friends. Chmerkovskiy was previously engaged to fellow Dancing With the Stars dancer Karina Smirnoff, but they called off their marriage in 2009.
