Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, the Pittsburgh Penguins (26-10-6, 58 ponts) and New York Islanders (29-13-1, 59 points) face-off for the third of five meetings this season live from the Nassau Coliseum in New York. Pittsburgh has won two straight games while New York enters play on the back of three straight victories and are coming off of a big rivalry triumph over the New York Rangers.

The Penguins topped the Islanders the first time these teams met, but the Islanders rallied back with two straight wins, including the last game between these two clubs by a 4-1 final on Nov. 22.

New York owns the top spot in the Metropolitan Division, but Pittsburgh is nipping at its heels in second place with just one point separating these teams.

The Penguins are coming off of a dominant 7-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday and will look to expand on it.

Evgeni Malkin paces the Penguins and is second in the NHL with 49 points while Sidney Crosby is tied for the league lead with 35 assists heading into tonight.

The Islanders blanked the Rangers 3-0 on Tuesday and have been on fire as of late.

John Tavares has paced the Isles with 19 goals and 39 points this season while Kyle Okposo has a team-best 28 helpers and Brock Nelson has found the twine 15 times -- nine of which came on the power play.

In net, New York is set to turn to Jaroslav Halak and he is tied for third in the league with 23 wins and four shutouts while posting a 2.22 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.

Pittsburgh is slated to counter with Marc-Andre Fleury in the crease and he is first in the NHL with six shutouts and fourth with 22 wins while adding a 2.16 GAA and a .926 save percentage.

Both netminders will be going to the All-Star Game next weekend in Columbus as replacements for Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard and Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne.

It's a huge matchup when the puck drops on the Penguins and Islanders tonight at the Nassau Coliseum in New York.
