Jameis Winston's father is now saying that his son has made up his mind about his football future, despite just yesterday saying that the FSU quarterback would wait until after the championship game to announce his decision.

According to ESPN, Jameis Winston's father broke the news on Wednesday that his son will forgo any more time at Florida State and make himself eligible for the NFL draft this year. Apparently, Jameis reached a firm decision about the matter on Tuesday evening, leading to today's announcement.

Winston's father also said that Jameis has received a first-round draft grade from the NFL draft advisory committee. The committee is designed to help underclassmen decide whether it is worth it for them to declare for the draft by giving them a reasonable estimation of when they can expect to hear their name called.

Mel Kiper Jr. has Winston as his number two quarterback, behind only Oregon's Marcus Mariota. Kiper has Winston as the sixth-best player available in the draft overall. Winston is blessed with a strong arm and above-average athleticism, and he has great pocket presence and poise given his age.

Many recent mock drafts have Winston coming off the board within the first three picks of the draft, and there are many plausible scenarios where Mariota goes number one overall and Winston gets drafted immediately after him.

Winston's father said that the initial plans to wait until next week to make the announcement were derailed by the excessive media attention the matter received and that Jameis felt comfortable with his decision to declare for the draft after praying about it Tuesday night.
