Jon Jones is set to face off against Daniel Cormier this coming weekend at UFC 182, but he found time amid his fight preparations to explain his feelings about former WWE star CM Punk joining UFC. Jones is the reigning light heavyweight champion and has held the belt for some time now. He is considered among the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

No Love Lost Between Jones, Cormier

The reactions to Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, joining UFC have been mixed. Some have welcomed him to the ranks. Others, like Jones, are decidedly less excited. According to MMA Fighting, Jones is upset that Brooks may take away opportunities from fighters that have worked hard to make it in UFC, and he hopes Brooks gets a rude welcome to the organization.

"I just think it's unfair for the people who have been working their tails off to earn this opportunity," said Jones. "That's why I really hope UFC gives him a real opponent so we can watch him get knocked out."

Anthony Johnson Wants To See Jones Go Down

"Every day I'm at the gym watching these kids training," Jones continued. "These guys have no money and they're training their tails off, giving up everything to be a fighter. Living in the gym, eating turkey and peanut butter, bare minimum to chase this dream and then a superstar like him just gets to jump into the UFC just because he knows the right people and has a name."

Jones did go on to note that the addition of the former WWE superstar will help UFC's popularity. "It's gonna bring a lot of publicity," he said. "I went to my first WWE match this year and the enthusiasm and emotion on the fans faces, it was like they were watching real fighting in the UFC. I do have a respect for the influence of the WWE and the passion of the fans."
