Many teams are in the midst of coaching changes today, and more are considering them, but other teams still have their own issues. The Washington Redskins are in the middle of the latest chapter of their longstanding quarterback controversy thanks to some recent comments by Kirk Cousins.

Coaching Carousel In Full Swing

Many fans clamored for Cousins to take over the starting job from Robert Griffin III, and they got their wish when RG3 hurt his ankle. But Cousins underwhelmed when he was given the chance, and he eventually suffered his own injury. He was hopeful that he'd be the starter going in to next year, but he has already put his backup plan in place.

It sounds like he would be open to a quarterback competition, but it also sounds like he does not think that the team will have one.

For his part, head coach Jay Gruden has stated that he thinks Colt McCoy is a better option than either Griffin or Cousins.

LeSean McCoy Leaving Eagles?

Cousins still seems resigned to the fact that he will not be the starter in Washington, so he would like it to be known that he wants to play somewhere that he can have a chance at being the first string quarterback.

While RG3 undoubtedly has the highest potential of any quarterback on Washington's roster, there is considerable doubt about whether his mechanics can be fixed to the point that he can be an above-average NFL starter.

However, there are similar doubts about Cousins, although the reasons are different. Cousins may lack the arm strength and accuracy to be a starting quarterback in the league. Still, he wants to get his chance, and that may require him leaving the only team that he has played for so far in his career.
