San Jose Shark's forward John Scott ended up on the NHL's naughty list this Christmas Eve as the league announced Wednesday that the enforcer is suspended for four games after punching an unsuspecting opponent.

NHL.com reports that the league has decided to levy the four-game ban on Scott after he punched Anaheim Ducks forward Tim Jackman during Monday's game and caused an injury.

The Sharks lost the game to the Ducks 3-2 in overtime in their last contest before the NHL's Christmas break.

Scott, who is considered a repeat offender under the NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, punched Jackman in the head at 8:18 of the second period in the game.

Per league rules, Scott will forfeit $34,146.36 for the incident and the money will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Scott, 32, has been in the NHL since the 2008-09 campaign and has played for the Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Buffalo Sabres and Sharks.

Scott has a goal and an assist for the Sharks this season while racking up 24 penalty minutes in 15 games played.

The 6-foot-8, 270-pound forward has played in 251 NHL games and has three goals, five assists and 454 penalty minutes.

The Sharks (19-11-5) have had a solid season up to this point as they are in second place in the Pacific Division behind the Ducks (23-8-5).

The Sharks play the Ducks again next Wednesday on New Year's Eve in Anaheim.
