All of those people that have been clamoring for a new Cristiano Ronaldo statue to be put up can finally be at ease. The Portuguese superstar's hometown recently decided to honor Ronaldo for his many exploits by constructing a monument that will further immortalize the world's best footballer.

Ronaldo Wins Sports Personality Of The Year

According to the Daily Mail, the town of Funchal, located on the Portuguese island of Madeira, decided to construct the statue in honor of Ronaldo, who grew up in the town. The statue is just the latest addition to the town that honors its most famous export, as there is already an entire museum dedicated solely to the soccer superstar.

The statue depicts Ronaldo standing as if he were about to take a free kick, and and it is also (intentionally or otherwise), pretty flattering to Ronaldo in an interesting way. Or maybe he just wore his shorts extra tight on purpose that day. Who can say?

CR7 A Ballon d'Or Finalist

Ronaldo and his family traveled to Funchal for the unveiling ceremony, and he posed for pictures in front of the statue.

Ronaldo recently led his club, Real Madrid, to the FIFA Club World Championship. He is a finalist for the Ballon d'Or trophy, given annually to the world's best soccer player. Ronaldo is the reigning winner of the trophy, and he is the favorite to claim it again.
