The flirtation was fun while it lasted, but Les Miles has removed himself from consideration for the Michigan Wolverines' coaching vacancy.

According to a report from ESPN.com, Miles addressed the Michigan rumors to both the LSU team and media on Monday, and was adamant that he has no intention of leaving Baton Rouge.

Wolverines Reached Out to Les Miles

Miles' remarks were later corroborated by an LSU spokesperson, Michael Bonnette.

This isn't the first thwarted courtship between UM and Miles. He was also considered a prime candidate for the position in 2007, after the firing of Lloyd Carr. Miles has deep ties to the Wolverines program; he played there under legendary coach Bo Schembechler and served as an assistant coach between 1987 and 1994.

Two New Michigan Candidates Have Emerged

Miles has coached the LSU Tigers for 10 seasons. In that time he has one BCS national championship and two title game appearances.

In addition to Miles, San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, UCLA Bruins coach Jim Mora, and Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen have all had their names mentioned as potential replacements for Brady Hoke. Of the three Harbaugh is considered the prize contender, but so far he's given no indication that he intends to leave the NFL ranks.
