The leading cricket match of the holiday weekend will be the second of five ODI showdowns between England and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka took the first ODI in impressive fashion, so there's no doubt England will be seeking retribution when the two teams meet again.
However, a specter of something other than just hearty competition hangs over the proceedings as well. There is the recent tragedy of Australia's Phil Hughes, who tragically died on Friday after being struck in the head with a bouncer days earlier.
Both teams discussed postponing this 2nd ODI following their peer's death, but ultimately decided to play the match specifically as a tribute to Hughes. There will be a moment of silence for Hughes and his family before the start, and both teams' players will be sporting commemorative black armbands when they take to the pitch as well.
