It looks like the end for the RG3 era in Washington. At least for this year.
The same quarterback for whom the Redskins originally traded three first rounders & one second round pick has now been benched in favor of the journeyman third stringer who was once picked 85th overall.

That's right. Robert Griffin III, the former would-be savior of D.C. football, has now been reportedly benched for Colt McCoy.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first broke the news of the quarterback change late Tuesday night:
Washington is planning to start Colt McCoy over Robert Griffin III on Sunday at Indianapolis, per a team source.... https://t.co/o0WZcOitBr

That Jay Gruden has made the change at quarterback is surprising for its timing, but not unthinkable. The first-year head coach has already taken a hard stance with Robert Griffin in recent weeks, telling the third-year signal caller that his "audition" was over, and that the Skins would "have to find out if somebody else" was better suited to fill Washington's starting role.
Many outlets, this site included, predicted a break-up on the team's off-season horizon -- but that it comes so suddenly, and in the middle of the season, remains a surprise.
RG3 Benching Appears Possible?
However, Schefter also reported that, while the team is taking a sabbatical from RG3's services on Sunday, upper management has still not ruled him out as the team's QB of the future.
"For the first time since it surrendered three first-round picks and one second-round pick for the right to draft Griffin III, the Redskins will have their full allotment of picks in addition to room under the salary cap," Schefter posted on his Facebook page.
"Behind owner Dan Snyder and general manager Bruce Allen, the team will be positioned to strike this off-season, spend big-time dollars and improve its roster. Plus Washington hired Jay Gruden in large part for his stellar work with quarterbacks, and the team is convinced coaching, cash and patience can help turn Griffin back into the player who won the Heisman Trophy and Offensive Rookie of the Year in back-to-back seasons."
