New York police are seeking a serial bank robber who hit five different financial institutions over a one hour period Friday, all while wearing a Jets uniform.
According to NBC New York, the bandit began his spree just before 1 p.m. by hitting a pair of Chase Manhattan branches within a few blocks of one another. From there, a couple of Capital One Midtown locales crossed his radar as did a Bank of America branch just a few blocks away.
As brazen as he was, police say the man was apparently unarmed, and his modus operandi consisted of simply handing the teller a note demanding money. Police add that in at least three of the five instances the suspect walked away from the branches without getting any money.
In one of the attempts, police were able to secure video footage of the man and have since released photos of him and are seeking the public’s help in gaining identification. Police now say they also suspect him in a pair of April 12 robberies of Manhattan bank branches that occurred within 20 minutes of each other.
In both of those instances, the bandit walked away with an undisclosed windfall. During his latest escapade, the man also wore a white baseball hat and a blue-jean, denim type jacket.
