The No. 4 Oregon Ducks find themselves in the College Football Playoff for the moment, but they can take another step toward cementing that spot with a win in Salt Lake City against the No. 17 Utah Utes.

Oregon coach Mark Helfrich spoke about being the new No. 4 in the country and how his team will keep up the tempo against this Utah team. The Ducks are the favorite in the Pac-12 at this point but that all changes if they fall in Utah.

"Particularly after the Arizona game it's been more competitive, a better sense of urgency," coach Mark Helfrich said. "All those things, win or lose, you try to impart on these guys of getting better in everything we do. Unfortunately, sometimes it's adversity in the form of a loss that wakes everybody up.

"You don't want to lose but how our guys responded to that and how they came together is very encouraging. We've gotten better every week.”

Utah was looking to vault themselves into the College Football Playoff conversation, but they fell in overtime to Arizona State. The Sun Devils jumped to No. 9 and the Utes stayed back in the late teens. They still have a shot at the Pac-12, but another loss in the conference will end all hope. It starts with a win this weekend against this Ducks team.

Oregon leads the all-time series against Utah 19-8 and the Ducks have taken five of the last six from the Utes. Oregon won the 2013 edition of this game 44-12 and Utah’s last win against the Ducks came in 2003.
