The Northern Illinois Huskies look to take a large step toward first place in the MAC as they play the Ball State Cardinals in this weeks edition of Wednesday Night Football.

Northern Illinois finds itself a game back of Toledo and half a game back of Western Michigan in the MAC East Division, but the good news is they will see those two teams in the next three weeks. The Huskies need to survive this road challenge from a formidable Ball State team as they look to draw even with Northern Illinois with a win.

Northern Illinois is riding a two-game winning streak after an upset loss to Central Michigan in early October.

Ball State comes in with a two-game win streak after dropping five straight to various opponents in and out of the MAC. Despite this, the Cardinals are 2-2 in the conference in the the thin of things when it comes to conference play. Ball State has already dropped both games to Toledo and Western Michigan, but winning out would put them at 6-2 in the conference.

Ball State leads the all-time series against Northern Illinois 20-19-2, but the Huskies have taken the last five meetings between the two. Northern Illinois beat Ball State 48-27 last season and the Cardinals last win against the Huskies was in 2008.
