Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has reached a plea agreement in his domestic violence case that will keep the All-Pro out of prison.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, Peterson has reached the deal that will knock down his felony child-abuse charge to a misdemeanor count of reckless assault charge.
“Adrian Peterson has reached a plea deal in his child-abuse case and will not serve any jail time, a source confirmed to ESPN's Michelle Steele.
Peterson will enter a plea to a lesser charge than the felony child-abuse charge that he is currently facing, the source confirmed.”
The next step for Peterson is if the judge will allow him to return to work. If the judge gives the go-ahead, Peterson will have to apply for reinstatement with the commissioner’s office. The NFL Players Association has already said that they will back Peterson and help him get reinstated as soon as he is allowed to return.
In fantasy football, if Peterson is reinstated and allowed to play for the Vikings immediately he is a must-start in all formats as he would find the same success he had before his suspension. The Vikings have been running the ball well with the likes of Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon, and the former MVP is a clear upgrade over those options.
There is no sign as to when a judgement on Peterson’s football future will come down, but if he is reinstated he should be grabbed off waivers immediately.
