The New York Yankees made a huge splash in free agency last season and signed close to $500 million in contracts, but this year they are looking to take a back seat and keep the talent they have.
According to NBC Sports, the Yankees are looking to let the big guns sign elsewhere. The list of free agents that the Yankees are not thinking of pursuing includes Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval and starting pitchers Jon Lester, Max Scherzer and James Shields. Instead, the report stats that the Yankees will push to keep pitcher Brandon McCarthy and third baseman Chase Headley.

The Yankees likely need to bring in more than one starting pitcher for 2015 as they saw their rotation demolished in 2014. New York is not bringing back Hiroki Kuroda and the team doesn’t know what kind of production they will get out of CC Sabathia and Ivan Nova as they return from injury.
