The Dallas Cowboys lost Monday night to the Washington Redskins, but they survived an even bigger scare with quarterback Tony Romo.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones appeared Wednesday on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas and said that the back injury Romo suffered during the game isn't season ending and that he could play this weekend.

"We have nothing medically that would prevent him from playing," Jones said Wednesday morning. "What I mean by that is there is nothing to his injury that won't function.

"This is a function of pain tolerance, [and] it is a serious issue. You could look at people who had similar-type contusions or a similar-type injury and haven't played the next week, so that would cause you some concern.”

Romo is listed as day-to-day on the Cowboys' injury report, but there is some talk that he could miss the team’s game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Romo is currently ranked as the No. 10 quarterback in fantasy football for Week 9 according to Fantasy Pros consensus rankings.

If Romo cannot play for the Cowboys, some options that are available in most fantasy leagues include Browns’ Brian Hoyer (owned in 12.3 percent of ESPN leagues) against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Texans’ Ryan Fitzpatrick (owned in 4.5 percent of ESPN leagues) against the Philadelphia Eagles and Chiefs’ Alex Smith (owned in 19.8 percent of ESPN leagues) against the New York Jets.

This back injury is not the same as the one that ended forced Romo to have surgery in the offseason.
