Former Packers quarterback Brett Favre says his November 9 return to Lambeau Field is in doubt due to the availability of another Packers legend.
Favre has said that he will not return to Green Bay without Hall of Famer Bart Starr and with Starr’s recent health issues, it doesn’t look like No. 4 will return anytime soon. Starr is currently recovering from two strokes and a mild heart attack.
Aldon Smith Expected to be Reinstated Earlier Than Expected
“There were discussions about making them honorary captains and participating in the pregame coin toss.
When asked why he and the Packers wouldn't proceed with Favre making the appearance alone, Favre replied, "I'm sure they could, but it was my idea to do it, and now that Bart can't, I just don't think I will.’'
Starr and Favre were expected to attend the Packers Sunday night game on November 9 against the NFC North division rival Chicago Bears. Favre is the Packers all-time leader in most statistical categories and his rift with current Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers forced the future Hall of Famer to leave for New York and then Minnesota to end his career.
Favre and Rodgers have improved their relationship since they were teammates and many believe it was Rodgers’ progressive efforts to get the teams’ legends involved in the team that prompted the front office to finally honor Favre this season.
Favre has thrown for 71,838 yards, 508 touchdowns and 336 interceptions in his career. He was the all-time leader in touchdown passes until Peyton Manning passed him this past weekend.
