The New York Yankees aren't wasting any time when it comes to the future as they have opened up contract negotiations with general manager Brian Cashman.
A source close to the situation says that Cashman and the Yankees are poised to come to an agreement before his current contract expires on October 31. There is no word yet on how long a potential deal will be or how much it will be worth.

Cashman just completed his 17th season with the Yankees, missing the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time in his tenure (and the first time since 1992-93). Cashman has a strong relationship with the Steinbrenner family and it has only grown stronger since Hal Steinbrenner took over the day-to-day operations.
Cashman’s job was never in jeopardy as reports from early on in the 2014 season said that he would be with the Yankees for the long haul.

The Yankees finished second in the American League East at 84-78, but were 12 games back of the Baltimore Orioles in the division and four games back of the second wild card spot.
The Yankees are talking a contract extension with Brian Cashman. As long as he doesn't ask for ten years.
