The Miami Dolphins dropped to 1-2 this weekend after losing to the previously winless Kansas City Chiefs and several Dolphin players had private meetings to discuss defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle's role with the team.

According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins defensive players have growing animosity toward their defensive coordinator due to his game planning abilities. The Dolphins defense is seen as the the strength of the team, but the Chiefs gashed them for 342 yards despite not having running back Jamaal Charles.

“And for the first time this season, the grumblings inside the team's locker room about defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle grew so loud, they could be heard outside.

One source said Dolphins players are "beyond furious, irate" at Coyle's defensive adjustments and game plan.

Players are privately questioning a host of decisions, including Coyle's call to have Cameron Wake and Jason Trusnik cover speedy Chiefs running back Joe McKnight in space, said another. McKnight exploited the matchups and had two touchdown catches in the second half Sunday.”

The Dolphins were topped mostly due to the play of Chiefs running backs Knile Davis and Joe McKnight who totaled 196 yards and three touchdowns together. The Dolphins are accustomed to disarray within the locker room as last season they had the Jonathan Martin-Richie Incognito bullying scandal.

No comments have been made by the Dolphins organization or coach Joe Philbin concerning the coaching on the defensive side of the ball. The Dolphins will travel to take on the Oakland Raiders (0-3) on Sunday and a loss could result in some changes down in South Beach.
