Today at 4:25 p.m. ET, the Kansas City Chiefs (0-1) and Denver Broncos (1-0) go head-to-head in NFL Week 2 action live from Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver. The game can be live streamed here. Kansas City fans can hear all of the action on 101 The Fox while Denver fans can do the same on 850 KOA.
Kansas City is coming off of a 26-10 loss at the hands of the Tennessee Titans while defending AFC champion Denver picked up a 31-24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
The Chiefs lost some key parts to its defense last week and the team is hoping that it can find a way to stop Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who has 11 touchdowns in four games against Kansas City since joining the Broncos, all of which he won.
The 2013 NFL MVP went 22-for-36 for 269 yards against his former team in Week 1 along with three touchdowns and had no interceptions. Manning found Julius Thomas for all three of his scores last week and Thomas finished the game with seven receptions for 104 yards.
While Manning and Thomas had a good day together, the team also jumped out to a 24-point lead and ended up only winning by seven points.
"We've got to find a way to play all four quarters as an offense," Manning told ESPN "Thank goodness the defense picked us up when the offense wasn't doing their job quite as well."
Montee Ball led the charge on the ground for Denver last week, rushing for 67 yards on 23 carries and finding the end zone once.
The Chiefs will look to pose a threat of their own by getting running back Jamaal Charles the ball more after he rushed for just 19 yards on seven carries and had only four catches for 15 yards last week.
"I want to see the ball more and coach knows that," Charles said per ESPN. "It's a long season, just one game. We can get worse or we can get good. My job is to get the team good."
Quarterback Alex Smith will also have another target to throw to as Dwayne Bowe returns after serving a suspension for substance abuse in Week 1. Smith found Donnie Avery seven times last week for 84 yards, but he failed to reach the end zone.
Smith went 19-for-35 (54.3%) last week for 202 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions while he led the team with 36 rushing yards on six carries while failing to score on the ground.
The Chiefs look for their first win of the season while the Broncos hope to earn their second straight triumph to open up the campaign when these teams take the field this afternoon in Denver.
