A copy of the full surveillance video that showed former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice punching and knocking out Janay Palmer was sent to the NFL three months ago, a New Jersey law enforcement official told The Associated Press.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has insisted repeatedly that no one in his office saw the video until TMZ Sports release it earlier this week. Goodell repeated that assertion Tuesday during an interview with CBS and said his request for the video went unanswered.
"We assumed that there was a video. We asked for video. But we were never granted that opportunity," Goodell said. The law enforcement official, however, played a 12-second voicemail from a phone number at the NFL confirming receipt of the video. The law enforcement official has asked AP not to release his name due to an ongoing investigation into the matter.

The Ravens terminated Rice's contract after the video became public. Goodell then suspended Rice from the league indefinitely.
At the time of the February incident, Rice and Palmer were engaged. They have since married.
