The Chicago Bulls have thrown their hat in the ring for the NBA’s most wanted free agent.

The Bulls have reached out to the representatives of future Hall of Famer Ray Allen to gauge his interest in joining Chicago. ESPN believes that Allen would be a logical fit for Allen as they are one of the most defensively sound teams in the league and have been focusing on re-tooling their offense this offseason.

Wizards Reach Out to Ray Allen

“The Bulls are one of several teams interested in Allen. The Bulls have had an active offseason, adding free agents Pau Gasol and Aaron Brooks, rookie Doug McDermott and European star Nikola Mirotic. On paper, they have one of the deepest teams in the league and fully expect to contend for a championship behind Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah -- a fact they'll surely sell to Allen's reps.”

The Bulls have a connection to Allen as head coach Tom Thibodeau was a Boston Celtics assistant when the team won a championship in 2008. Allen hasn’t commented on any of the rumors of his playing status, but he has made it known that he intends to play this season.

The Bulls join a large list of teams that are interested in Allen’s services. The Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Washington Wizards and now the Bulls are all making their pushes for him. The future Hall of Famer is expected to retire after this coming season and is going to sign with a team that can win him a NBA championship.

Allen averaged a career low 9.6 points per game last season as a member of the Miami Heat after spending 2007-12 with the Boston Celtics as a member of the original “Big Three.” Allen is a 10-time All-Star and has averaged 18.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists over his 18-year career.
