The Minnesota Timberwolves have been one of the more active teams this offseason and their roster overhaul could have at least one more move on the horizon.

According to ESPN NBA Insiders, the Timberwolves could move center Nikola Pekovic due to the development of Gorgui Dieng in the FIBA World Cup.

Rajon Rondo for Roy Hibbert Trade in the Works?

“I'd assume the Timberwolves are open to offers at this point, but given Pekovic's history of injury having two good options at center isn't the worst idea. Playing them together seems unlikely now that both Thaddeus Young and Anthony Bennett are in the mix at power forward.”

It is unclear what the Timberwolves could ask for in return for Pekovic or if he would be included in any rumored deal for point guard Ricky Rubio, but Dieng’s development does make things interesting in Minnesota. The Timberwolves will have a decision to make at some point concerning the status of their big men.

Rockets, Kings Chasing Rajon Rondo?

Minnesota has been rumored to be entertaining offers for Rubio, but nothing solid has come of the unconfirmed talks. Rubio has demanded a max contract from the Timberwolves after this season and will likely be moved or given the option to pursue a max contract in free agency.

If the contract talks between Rubio and the Timberwolves go south, Minnesota could try to move a Rubio-Pekovic package around the trade deadline.

T-Wolves, Suns Discussing Ricky Rubio Trade?

Pekovic has spent his entire four-year career with the Timberwolves and has averaged 13 points and 6.8 rebound per game. Pekovic has only played an entire season once and it was the lockout shortened season in 2012-13.
