Fantasy football players who drafted Johnny Manziel as a "sleeper" candidate will have to wait at least one week as Brian Hoyer shot down any chance on Manziel playing in the Browns Week 1 game against the Steelers.

Hoyer said he and coach Mike Pettine had a sit-down talk about the position and that the coach wouldn't have a ‘quick hook’ on Hoyer if the team starts to underperform.

"[Pettine] said, 'Look I just want you to go out and be yourself and play and not worry about anything else.' I think for me that's the way my personality is regardless," Hoyer said.

"Had he said it or not, I think my mentality would be the same," Hoyer added.”

The Browns had stated in the past that they had played with the idea of a two-quarterback system, but that idea seems to have lost all it’s steam as Pettine plans to ride with Hoyer. The Steelers are reportedly game planning to see both Hoyer and Manziel this week.

Hoyer was named the starter for the Browns after the second preseason game despite both Cleveland quarterbacks having mediocre preseasons. Manziel is expected to take over the starting position at some point in 2014 and many believe it will be the Browns Week 5 matchup with the Tennessee Titans.

Hoyer is currently owned in 1.8 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues compared to Manziel’s 33.8 percent. Hoyer is not ranked on ESPN’s Week 1 quarterback rankings.

The Browns drafted Johnny Manziel with the No. 22 overall pick after trading up with the Philadelphia Eagles.
