The Texans and All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt have agreed on a new six-year, $100 million ($51.8 million guaranteed) contract extension, but will this move will spark a series of defensive player cashing in?

Now that Watt has set the standard for elite defensive linemen to cash in, St. Louis Rams standout pass rusher Robert Quinn will likely be the next to get paid. Quinn even sent a tweet to Watt to congratulate him on the new deal.

According to ESPN, Quinn should do more than congratulate Watt as they believe that Watt’s deal will pay dividends for the Rams’ All-Pro as well.

“It's left unsaid here but Quinn also might as well have tossed in a hashtag with the words "thank you" after it. That's because with Watt now officially setting the bar in uncharted territory for a defensive player, Quinn has a pretty good idea of what his next contract is going to look like. Luxurious, indeed.”

The 24-year-old Quinn is due $9,971,381 over the next two years and will receive $3 million this year. The Rams have many options when it comes to Quinn, but after his stellar 2013 season it wouldn’t be wise for the team to play around with his money or consider the franchise tag.

49ers Ray McDonald to be Suspended More Than Six Games?

Quinn played in all 16 of the Rams games in 2013 and registered 19.0 sacks as well as seven forced fumbles. Quinn is well on his way to getting paid just as handsomely as Watt in the near future.
