The Minnesota Timberwolves are undergoing another rebuilding program after trading away their star player Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but surprisingly set a ticket sales record this week.

According to The Associated Press, the team sold more than 300 full season-ticket packages in the past week after it sent Love to the Cavs in exchange for the rookie Andrew Wiggins, sophomore Anthony Bennett and forward Thaddeus Young.

This broke the franchise's previous record set three years ago when Ricky Rubio announced that he was playing for the team.

"The organization, from president-level on down has just been re-energized," the AP quoted Timberwolves senior vice president Ryan Tanke as saying. "Part of it is hope, and you have this great new hope."

The renewed enthusiasm on the franchise is also exhibited by the fact that its official website set a new five-day record of 200,000 visitors and 500,000 page views after the team announced the Kevin Love trade.

During the Minnesota State Fair on Tuesday where the new Wolves were presented, owner Glen Taylor said: "I can't hardly get 20 steps without someone stopping me and saying, 'Hey Mr. Taylor, we're really excited about your team. So I see the enthusiasm among our fans to watch these players. Now, maybe it will be a dunk contest here for a while, but, we certainly have some athletic young men."

Part of the reason there's renewed interest in the team is the promise of rookie sensation Wiggins, who was the top pick of this year's draft class considered as one of the most talented in the past decade.
