Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Argentina's Angel Di Maria is leaving the team, further fueling fire to the speculations that he will be moving to Manchester United.

Ancelotti said his star player showed up for practice on Sunday but did not train. He added, as quoted by ESPN: "It is not fully done, but he is close to a transfer. He came to say goodbye. We thanked him for what he has done for this team and we wished him luck for the future. It is not official, but it is resolved."

Di Maria was instrumental to Madrid's triumphant past season, when it won the Champions League and Copa del Rey trophies.

According to sources close to ESPN, Manchester United are nearing payment of a fee for the transfer of Di Maria, but Real Madrid wants the same amount that they paid to acquire James Rodriguez of Monaco which is 75 million euros and five million more in incentives.

Ancelotti is one of Di Maria's ardent supporters, even after the star player thrust his crotch at Madrid fans last season. Still he believes that Real Madrid has done everything to keep the Argentina international star.

He added: "I have a very good relationship with him. It was his own decision, the club did everything possible, offering him all that he could get here. He has decided something else, so we wish him much luck."

It is believed that Di Maria's unhappiness at Real Madrid is due to his poor relationship with club president Florentino Perez, who has not given him enough recognition.
