Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly dismissed speculation that the school has to change its recruitment process to avoid the academic issues that have hounded its football program for more than a year.

Kelly faced the media on Saturday to talk about the investigation that the Fighting Irish are conducting regarding four players who have been involved in possible academic violations.

''I think we've brought in the right young men,'' he said as quoted by AP. ''I think we have to continue to do a better job educating them. We have to do a better job of providing the resources.''

Starting cornerback KeiVarae Russell, returning receiver DaVaris Daniels, defensive end Ishaq Williams and backup linebacker Kendall Moore were the four players who were barred from joining team practices and games pending the completion of an investigation on whether their papers and homework were completed by others.

The coach reiterated that none of the players are guilty since the investigation is still ongoing. Instead of changing the way he recruits players, Kelly said its up to him to create an environment where his players know they would be responsible for their actions.

''If you let your players do whatever they want and they feel like they're not accountable, then I don't think you should be a head coach,'' he argued. ''I think if you create an environment and you lay out the expectations of your program and their not met, then they should be held accountable.''
