Following the announcement that Steve "Sting" Borden will be a part of the WWE 2K15 video game, the interest from the WWE in signing him to a talent contract has grown and they're reportedly more excited for him than they were for the Ultimate Warrior last year.

It was revealed that Sting is available as a playable character in the "black and white" and "surfer" versions for those who pre-order the WWE 2K15 video game that comes out in October. Since the announcement, it has been rumored that he would eventually wrestle for the company but a talent contract hasn't been signed yet.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, there is a belief within the WWE that there is more interest in Sting after the 2K15 announcement than there was last year when the Ultimate Warrior was announced for WWE 2K14. This is likely because Sting is more current and has a chance of wrestling in the company.

Sting has a deal with 2K Sports to be in the game -- which is why he was at Comic Con in San Diego -- and he also has a deal in place with Mattel to produce action figures, but there is no talent deal with the WWE. The WWE has been able to sell his merchandise since they have the rights to it after buying WCW in 2001.

WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon has had plenty of negotiations with Sting over the years but he remains as the one former WCW main event talent that McMahon has failed to sign. While Sting is onboard in the WWE family, nothing is in stone regarding a talent contract.

Though nothing s signed, Sting has shown plenty of interest in wrestling for the WWE in recent interviews and has said he has one more match left in him, so a deal is likely to happen sometime soon.

It was believed in January Sting would come on board in order to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX in April, but the WWE dragged its feet in signing him and considered it a "low priority," opting to go with Brock Lesnar instead.

There have since been rumors that Sting vs. Taker -- in what would be both their last bouts and the first match for Sting in the WWE -- would happen at WrestleMania 31 next March, but after Lesnar ended The Streak and 'Taker got hurt, the dead man's career is up in the air and he may not wrestle again.

Despite this, Sting has shown plenty of interest in having one more match so it is likely that he will be a part of WrestleMania 31 and may even get inducted in the Hall of Fame.

While the WWE was the one delaying negotiations in April, it was reported following WrestleMania that Sting had a physical contract with him at his house but for whatever reason has failed to sign it.

The WWE brought in Sting for WWE 2K15 much like they did with The Warrior last year. The Warrior, once a controversial figure in the WWE, had a weekend of redemption this April where he was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame and then made his first appearances at WrestleMania and on Monday Night RAW since 1996 over the course of the next two nights.

The Warrior tragically passed away from heart disease the day after his RAW appearance.

It remains to be seen when Sting will be brought in to wrestle for the WWE, but he is expected to be in Los Angeles for SummerSlam weekend in just over two weeks to meet with McMahon.

Sting is not scheduled to appear at SummerSlam, but there could be a deal reached by the time the show goes off on Aug. 17 at the Staples Center.
