Germany escaped their game with Algeria 2-1 after 90 scoreless minutes, but the German squad isn't out of the woods yet with their game with France right around the corner. A handful of players on the German squad have come down with the flu and are trying to get healthy in time for France.

German coach Joachim Loew didn't name any specific players who have come down with the illness, but he believes the traveling and air conditioning is to blame for the outbreak.

“Seven players are slightly ill with flu symptoms. It is not that bad at the moment and it could be partly about air conditioning, the travel, temperature differences. I do not want to make a drama of it. We hope the situation will ease.”

Defender Mats Hummels missed the game against Algeria due to illness and it looks as if his illness has spread to many of his teammates. Hummels has since recovered and is expected to be ready for the game again the French in Rio de Janeiro. Goalkeeping coach Andreas Koepke revealed that midfielder Christoph Kramer was one of the players that have come down with the flu and wouldn't reveal his status.

It is unknown how many of the German team will miss the game against the French, but it is very likely that Hummels as well as forward Lukas Podolski will be active. Podolski missed the Alergia game with a thigh strain that has healed up enough to play.

Germany is on the verge of history as no team in World Cup history has ever made the semifinals in four straight World Cups.
