The United States Men’s National Team made believers out of many doubters by making it to the round of 16 in the World Cup. Team USA played so well, in fact, that they might have made a believer of their coach Jurgen Klinsmann as well.

Klinsmann spoke to reporters a day after losing to Belgium 2-1 in the round of 16 and spoke about what he expects from the team going forward.

"Saying that we come into this World Cup to win it is just not right, because you would raise the expectations through the moon," Klinsmann said

"Is it possible to get through that group? Yes, because we did it,"

"Is it possible now to go game-by-game and maybe even win four knockout games? Yes," said Klinsmann.

"But you can't go in saying we're here to win the World Cup when you have teams like Brazil, Germany and all the big countries in there. I think you have to take it just one step at a time.”

Klinsmann is singing a different tune than he was before the World Cup started. Klinsmann made waves with the American media when he said that winning the World Cup was impossible for this USMNT and that anyone who says otherwise was not being honest.

The United States advanced out of group play despite being placed in the “Group of Death” that included Germany, Portugal and Ghana. Klinsmann said the next step for this team is the Gold Cup in summer 2015 and he will start work on putting the best team possible out on the field. There is plenty of work to be done, but the United States has made a believer out of their once skeptical coach.
