Speaking of franchises changing names. ...

LeBron James' legacy could end up resembling that of Deion Sanders, rather than Michael Jordan

The Charlotte Hornets on Thursday posted a photo of their new uniforms for the 2014-15 season on their official Twitter account, bringing back the teal that defined the original Charlotte Hornets franchise.

ESPN.com reported that he designer of the original Charlotte Hornets uniforms offered to design the new uniforms for free and even presented 150 different possibilities. But owner Michael Jordan's relationship with Nike nixed that idea, and Nike created the new uniforms.

USA TODAY Sports' For the Win described the uniforms - the home uniform will include purple numbering and teal lettering in the name, "Hornets." The road uniforms will be purple-based with teal numbering and white lettering with teal used to outline the numbers.

However, the team also has created an alternate home jersey that is teal with purple numbering and white lettering. While the other two uniforms say "Hornets" on the front, the teal alternative says "Charlotte."

Judge accused of calling Michael Jordan "greedy"

According to For the Win, alternative jerseys can be worn up to 20 times per season, and the Hornets intend to use the teal for home games, which would be almost half of the 41-game home schedule.

A small hornet is on each waistline and the teal jerseys have a secondary hornet's logo on the side. The home whites and road unis have a new "CH" configuration (for Charlotte Hornets).

ESPN reported that the uniforms don't have the official NBA logo on the traditional upper-chest positioning, but will be on the back above the name. But a video of the unveiling shows the logo on the home whites on the right leg. It also showed the logo on the back of another set of uniforms.

ESPN also mentioned that the teal and purple used are darker than those of the original Hornets uniforms, although a photo of the old Hornets seems to contradict the notion that the teal is darker now than it was.

According to ESPN, the Hornets plan to unveil their new court design next Thursday.
