The Chicago Bears and Brian Urlacher will officially part ways after failing to reach an agreement on a free-agent deal, the team announced Wednesday. Urlacher, 34, originally told the Chicago Tribune that he sought a two-year deal worth $11.5 million, however, the Bears asking price was much lower.

Chicago offered the former all-pro a one-year contract worth $2 million, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Urlacher, who spent his entire 12-year career with the Bears, told the Chicago Tribune that he felt insulted by Chicago's offer.

"It wasn't even an offer; it was an ultimatum," Urlacher said. "I feel like I'm a decent player still. It was insulting, somewhat of a slap in the face."

Urlacher countered with a one-year, $3.5 million offer with incentives that would have allowed him to make an additional $500,000, league sources told ESPN's Ed Werder. But Chicago refused to agree with Urlacher's request.

Last season, Urlacher recorded 68 tackles in 12 games. The eight-time pro bowler was sidelined due to a hamstring injury suffered against Seattle on Dec. 2, causing him to miss the final four games of the regular season.
