The Boston Celtics own the No. 6 pick in the NBA draft and, according to Sports Illustrated they have “locked in” on Arizona’s Aaron Gordon. Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix placed Gordon on the Celtics in his latest mock draft and believes Danny Ainge is dead set on the Arizona product.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix on the chances that Boston takes a chance on Gordon.

"Several league sources believe that Celtics GM Danny Ainge is locked in on Gordon," he reports during his latest mock draft. "While Gordon's shooting is a concern, he is a strong rebounder and shot blocker who can defend either forward spot and has been compared to Shawn Marion.”

This raises plenty of questions concerning the Celtics draft considering that they shouldn't be “locked in” on anyone. This draft is one of the better drafts in recent memory so playing the board and seeing what talent could slip to you is paramount. Dan Feldman for NBC Sports believes that Gordon would be a welcome edition to Boston, but the Celtics should lock anyone in before seeing what the other talent has to offer.

"No. 6 is not necessarily too high for Gordon to get drafted, but it’s too high to lock in on him. If the Celtics vet other prospects and still like Gordon, great. But make him earn it first,”

The Celtics have a ton of options when the draft rolls around after the NBA Finals. If they do not trade the pick away in any potential Kevin Love deal, Boston needs to come away with a player who can impact the team immediately.
