The Houston Texans are scheduled to meet with former All-Pro safety Ed Reed on Thursday. The team confirmed on its Twitter that general manager Rick Smith is flying to pick up Reed in team chairman and CEO Bob McNair's private jet.

The 34-year-old Reed has been one of the key factors to the Super Bowl-winning Baltimore Ravens decade of great defenses. Reed is Baltimore's franchise leader in interceptions with 61, and his 1,541 return yards with those pickoffs is an NFL record.

Reed won the defensive player of the year award in 2004 and a nine-time pro bowler. If Reed decides to sign elsewhere, he will be just the latest starter to depart from the Super Bowl champs.

Several starters from the 2012-13 Ravens roster will not return to Baltimore next season including Dannell Ellerbe, Paul Kruger and the recently traded Anquan Boldin. Linebacker Ray Lewis and center Matt Birk opted for retirement.
