The Yankee pitching staff has completely imploded since the start of the season and only Hiroki Kuroda and Masahiro Tanaka remain untouched by injury. CC Sabathia, Michael Pineda and Ivan Nova have all gone down with injuries, which has created “immense pressure” for the team to acquire a new arm.

According to Bleacher Report, the Yankees are already on the hunt for a new starting pitcher and could be willing to pay a hefty price in order to land their guy. Bleacher Report speculates that among the teams the Yankees are talking to are the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and the division rival Tampa Bay Rays as well as players within their own farm system.

Three players from the teams the Yankees have been rumored to be interested in are Jeff Samardzija, Kyle Kendrick and even David Price. The Yankees would have to pay a hefty price to land Samardzija and they could elevate it to a king’s ransom for Price.

In classic Yankee fashion, I expect the Yankees to make a move before the trade deadline, but will they pack enough of a punch to land a top-flight arm? The Yankees are the Yankees and with it being Derek Jeter’s last season, New York could have just the right amount of insentive to pull off a blockbuster trade. The question is, will the Yankees move now or later in the year?
