CM Punk has been out of the WWE since January, but his name has popped up in various rumors in the last few months as the WWE Universe awaits his return, but a comeback may not be coming for "The Best in the World" as one of his friends referred to him as a retired wrestler.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Natalie Slater, of Bake and Destroy fame, is a known good friend of Punk's and she wrote an article for RedEyeChicago.com where she didn't refer to Punk by name but talked about her friend the "retired wrestler."

"My friend can't go to Target. He can't go to Great America, the grocery store or any mall anywhere," Slater wrote. "It's been a long time since I've seen him escape a restaurant without getting Instagrammed by diners at nearby tables. People mob him in the airport and tweet angrily when he doesn't stop to sign autographs because he has a flight to catch. My friend is famous, and it sucks."

She then spoke about Punk becoming a wrestler, again not using him by name.

"When we first met, he told me he was going to be a pro wrestler and I couldn't wait," she wrote. "Pro wrestlers were ballers -- they rode in limousines, wore sequined robes and married fine ladies with big hair. Most importantly, they were famous, and to a girl who grew up in a town with gravel roads and no sidewalks, fame and fortune meant instant happiness."

She then spoke about Punk's success and how it took five years but he eventually started making money as a wrestler.

"Five years later, he was making enough money wrestling to quit his 'real job'," she wrote. "He was still carpooling to shows with other wrestlers to save on gas money, crashing on couches and eating fast food, but he wasn't wearing a name tag or sitting in a cubicle. And that was about as much as he'd ever hoped for -- he was ecstatic."

She then discussed how Punk -- who is a seven-time World Champion -- has retired from wrestling following the knowledge that he has quit the WWE.

"Now, he's the recently retired seven-time World Champion, and he's one of the most isolated people I've ever known," Slater wrote. "A few weeks ago he found a young fan and his mom cramming Easter candy into the mail slot of his front door. Just before that, he walked out of his back door to throw out the trash only to be met by fans camped out in his alley for hours just to see him."

Slater wrote about being creeped out by fans and the media mugging Punk.

"We get mad about how much of our information Facebook is selling to advertisers, and this guy has people stalking his Dumpster," Slater wrote on the site. "But if he complains, people roll their eyes and say if they had his money, they wouldn't complain about anything. The money? I'm sure he likes it just fine, but I often wonder how much of it he would trade to be able to go to a Cubs game without it ending up on TMZ."

Punk left the WWE due to frustration and being burned out in January after the Royal Rumble prior to the following night's Monday Night RAW. Punk has shown no interest in coming back despite the fact that his contract expires in July and he has been mum on the subject.

Punk has been seen in public a lot during his time away from the ring as cameras have followed him at Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks games and he even appeared on AMC's Talking Dead television show. Punk got engaged to WWE Diva A.J. Lee, who took time off and is slated to move in with him in Chicago.

Punk likely isn't coming back, and if his good friend's words are any indication, he may be retried.
