Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET, the Baltimore Orioles (16-14) and Tampa Bay Rays (15-18) take the field at Tropicana Field for Game 2 of their best-of-three series live from Tampa Bay. Baltimore hopes to take the second straight game of this series on a six-game road trip that has seen them go 2-2 thus far while Tampa Bay looks to even up the series in the second game of a six-game homestand while
Bud Norris (2-2, 3.94 ERA) toes the rubber for the Orioles while Cesar Ramos (1-1, 2.91 ERA) takes the mound for the Rays.
Both teams will look for some improvement from their starting pitchers as the Orioles have just 10 quality starts on the entire season while the Rays starters have an MLB-worst 5.68 ERA since April 13.
Ramos takes the ball hoping that he can go at least six innings tonight.
"That one extra inning is one guy [relief pitcher] you're saving," Ramos said via MLB.com "Any time you get in six innings, that's huge."
Orioles first baseman Chris Davis (oblique) is ahead of schedule with his rehab, but despite the fact that he's eligible to come off of the disabled list by Sunday, he's not expected to play by then.
"He's in a good spot in the process comparatively speaking," manager Buck Showalter told MLB.com.
Tampa Bay outfielder Desmond Jennings was named American League Player of the Week last week after leading the league in total bases. Jennings is hitting .294 with four homers and 10 RBIs. Fellow outfielderMatt Joyce is fifth in the A.L. in on-base percentage with a .402 mark.
Baltimore outfielder Nelson Cruz ranks second in the American League and fourth overall in the MLB with 29 RBIs, and he's hitting .294 while his nine homers are third in the A.L. Cruz is fourth in the A.L. in slugging percentage (.588) and OPS (.958).
