The NFL will release the 2014 schedule of all 32 teams at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night and all eyes will be on who the Seattle Seahawks will start their Super Bowl defense against. It is tradition for the reigning champ to open up the NFL season on Thursday Night Football in front of their home crowd before the start of week one that Sunday.
Sports World News NFL Mock Draft 6.0
The Seahawks will play the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams at home this season so you can already paint a picture of where the NFL could go here. The most likely options are:
Green Bay Packers: The Packers and Seahawks have a history of playing each other tough and they have no love lost. The have some historic moments like Matt Hasselbeck’s overtime folly when he said Seattle was going to receive the ball in overtime and score, only to throw a game clinching interception. These two are playoff teams and would put on a great game as well as save some bigger market games for later in the season.
Denver Broncos: The team Seattle throttled in the Super Bowl just so happens to be on their home schedule for 2014. It would be poetic for these two to match up for the 2014 season opener and hopefully it will be a better show than the Super Bowl. Denver is all in again and what a way to gauge how much you have improved by playing the team that just destroyed you.
Arizona Cardinals: Some would say the 49ers are more likely than the Cardinals, but the NFL is smarter than that. This game is going to dominate the Thursday night market regardless of who plays Seattle so why waste a potential blockbuster game against the 49ers? The Cardinals were a surprise team in 2013 and are on the cusp of being a contender themselves. The Cardinals need to prove they are for real in the NFC West and beating the top dogs in their homecoming from a Super Bowl title would send a message across the league.
