Rumors swirled a couple of weeks back at the end of Monday Night RAW when there was a standoff between Evolution and Kane and The Shield and Daniel Bryan that there could be a future War Games match, and the first possible venue that could accommodate it would be the Tampa Bay Times Forum, host of WWE Battleground 2014.

WWE SmackDown spoilers for Friday

There were reports that the WWE might be headed towards such a match at Extreme Rules, but the WWE opted to have Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista taking on The Shield in a regular six-man tag team match and Daniel Bryan defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Kane in an Extreme Rules match as the Izod Center in New Jersey can't fit the two-ring setup.

While a War Games match could eventually be in the plans despite the fact that Vince McMahon is against the match type, reports earlier in the month indicated that no pay-per-view arena from now until August's SummerSlam could accommodate the two-ring setup that the match requires.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, those initial reports were not correct as the Tampa Bay Times Forum could accommodate such a match for Battleground. it's unknown if the WWE would do the match and whether or not it would be a six-man match featuring The Shield against Evolution or an eight-man match adding Bryan and Kane to that equation.

WWE's Battleground event will emanate from Tampa Bay on July 20, so there could be a possibility that the event is headlined by a War Games type match between those sides.

It remains to be seen if the WWE will pull the trigger on such a match, but the possibility is still there.
