There were reports on Monday that Steve "Sting" Borden hasn't officially signed on with the WWE after speculation over the weekend indicated that he in fact did sign on with the company, however more sources have confirmed that Sting has yet to sign the dotted line to join the WWE.

Sting's WWE deal coming soon?

According to PWInsider, Sting physically has his WWE deal but has yet to sign it, and there is no indication on what the hold-up is with him signing it. The deal has reportedly been done in principle for a long time, but isn't set it stone yet since Sting is sitting on the papers, though he'll likely sign them soon.

There were reports that Sting will sign the deal and eventually wrestle for the WWE, likely at next year's WrestleMania 31 due to his ties to California, and the reports have indicated that Sting will in fact begin to wrestle at some point but he will not be an active Superstar that wrestles on a regular basis for the WWE.

Rumored matches for WWE Extreme Rules 2014

There have been reports that Sting will likely have one match and that it would take place at WrestleMania 31 emanating from Levi's Stadium in The Bay Area. His opponent for such a match, however, remains to be seen.

It had always been expected that Sting would face The Undertaker in a match that would pit the WWE's icon against an icon of TNA and more so WCW, however The Undertaker's future is in question after he suffered a concussion at the hands of Brock Lesnar and lost his undefeated WrestleMania streak.

It had always been rumored that 'Taker would defend his streak against Sting, and early rumors indicated that the dream match would occur at WrestleMania XXX in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, however the WWE stuck with the plan to bring on Lesnar to take on The Streak while the company dragged its feet in signing Sting and deemed it a "low priority."

As it turned out, Lesnar ended The Streak taking much of the appeal away from The Undertaker at future WrestleManias in what could prove to be his final match as an active competitor. That leaves the plans for Sting on the fence, though there were rumors that Sting may be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2015.

Sting has yet to sign the deal, though with there being no foreseeable hold-ups the agreement should be imminent. The only question now remains what the WWE will do with Sting once he signs.
