Four-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) LeBron James might be closing in on the twilight of his career but the 33-year-old is still among the hottest names in the upcoming free agency.
A testament to that was James's incredible play in both ends of the court this season averaging 27.5 points, 9.1 assists, and 8.6 rebounds while leading the Cleveland Cavaliers into its fourth consecutive finals appearance.
Certain teams that have made a case on signing James in the upcoming free agency include but are not only limited to the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, and the San Antonio Spurs.
Sign With Cleveland
The Akron, Ohio native has found great success with the Cavaliers since leaving the Miami Heat in the summer of 2014, and there's nothing better than to continue his team's momentum.
Since returning to the Cavaliers, James steered Cleveland into four straight finals appearances including a monumental upset of the Golden State Warriors who led 3-1 at one point in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Join Golden State
If you cannot beat them, join them. This is what exactly Kevin Durant did when he signed a two-year $54 million deal with the Golden State Warriors in 2016.
It can be brought up that Durant's former squad the Oklahoma City Thunder had lost to the Warriors in the 2016 Western Conference Finals despite taking a 3-1 lead.
Interestingly, James's all-time finals record against the Warriors currently stands at 1-3 and pairing him with Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry would greatly increase the chances of improving his finals slate.
Sign With Houston
It could be argued that the Houston Rockets might be the one playing in the NBA Finals right now if not for Chris Paul's horrific hamstring injury late in Game 5.
The Rockets took a 3-2 advantage before missing Paul's services in the next two games. Houston went on to lost to the Warriors in Game 7 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals.
Nonetheless, the Rockets have been nothing short of impressive this year finishing the regular season with a league-best 65-17 (win-loss) slate.
Adding James to the already formidable duo of Paul and James Harden would surely make the Rockets among the odds-on favorite to win the title.
Join Kyrie
If Michael Jordan had Scottie Pippen, James, on the other hand, had Kyrie Irving.
During their tenure as teammates, James and Irving became one of the scariest duos in the league with both players unloading more than 20 points per night.
Irving and James went on to lead the Cavaliers into three consecutive finals appearances which included a championship title in 2016.
However, the organization decided to head into a different direction when they traded Irving to the Boston Celtics the last offseason.
Pairing Irving with James will definitely increase the chances of the Celtics returning to the finals for the first time since 2010.
