This year, there will be a tough competition between three tech giants. Top flagship phones Google Pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone 8 will be unveiled soon. Google's Pixel and Pixel XL were one of the best smartphones of 2016 and now Android-maker will release its flagship Google Pixel 2 later this year.
Google is expected to launch Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 sometimes around October this year. Users were happy with the performance of Google Pixel and Pixel XL but there are some latest technology features missing. Here are some features and specs that are most likely to be present in Google Pixel 2.
Droid Life reported that Google has codenamed the upcoming Pixel devices "muskie" and "walleye". But new reports suggest that there is also a third device under development called "taimen". Google codenames its products on the name of fish or aquatic animal since past 6 to 7 years. As the name suggests, the third device will have a larger screen than the other two.
Unlike other premium phones, Google Pixel and Pixel XL lake water and dust resistance. Users are spending more and they expect water resistance to keep their phone safe and protected from rain or accidental splashes. Fans are expecting Google Pixel 2 to sport this feature.
Like Samsung Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone 8, Google Pixel 2 will also reduce bezels. As written in Yahoo Finance, Pixel 2 will feature narrower bezels on top and bottom, two speaker grilles, separate volume buttons instead of a rocker, a redesigned glass back with chamfered edges, fingerprint sensor and center-aligned camera module.
Google will not remove traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack and its position will remain unchanged along with USB Type-C's. There will also be some improvement in Google Assistant. Currently, Pixel phones come with 32 GB storage option only and there is no external microSD card support. Google Pixel 2 is expected to come with either better storage option or microSD card support.
