Golden State Warriors are already a championship caliber team in the last two seasons. But with the addition of NBA superstar Kevin Durant, the Dubs became an unfathomable force in the NBA and was considered by many as the NBA superteam. With their extremely talented roster, the Warriors had a ridiculous 49-10 record in their first 59 games with KD.
But when Durant got injured in the first quarter against the Washington Wizards, the Warriors found themselves struggling to get W's. In their first 10 games without Durant, they are 5-5 which includes a three-game losing streak. And now that the Dubs are slowly getting back on track as they have a three-game winning streak, their superstar is also getting back in shape.
In his pregame press conference last Saturday night against the Milwaukee Bucks, Steve Kerr said that Kevin Durant is making progress in his recovery, as per San Francisco Examiner. Kerr also said that KD is set to join the team on their road games against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks. But it is unsure whether the former scoring champion will seat on the bench with the team.
Durant suffered a sprained MCL and bone bruise in the game against the Washington Wizards almost a month ago. During the early stages of his injury, he shoots from the chair. And now, he is already making jump shots. It is clear that KD is already progressing.
KD is averaging 25.3 points, 4.8 assists and 8.2 rebounds in his first year with the Dubs. He was a big contributor in the Warriors offense and defense this season. That's why during their first 10 games, the Warriors found it hard to win games. But now, Stephen Curry and company as starting to get their groove back.
They have won three consecutive games with victories over the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks. And their last two games, they are averaging 119.5 points per game and with an average lead of 27.5 points. Curry is leading the way as usual for the Warriors as he is averaging 26.5 points, 6.5 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting an absurd 60.71% from the field over the last two games.
The Warriors are clearly starting to learn how to live a life without Durant. They are starting to find their rhythm once again. And with Durant still has no timetable for his return, it is a good thing for the Dubs that he is making a lot of progress. Things are starting to look bright at the Bay Area once again, especially that the Warriors are getting back to its winning ways.
And as the Dubs battle OKC tonight, the Golden State Warriors is said to be furious about the inactivity from Oklahoma City Thunder during KD's return last February 11, as per ESPN. That instead of thanking Durant for his nine years of service in OKC, what he received is a furious crowd with a lot of boos and "Cupcake" and "soft" chants.
It is expected that Durant will remain in the Warriors' locker room during their game against the Thunder. But if ever he will join the team on the bench, he will walk with a noticeable limp or with crutches.
